I work for the Antlers’ PR agency and live in Denver, so it’s always a treat to come to Vail for a visit. My daughter and I enjoyed a fabulous stay at the Antlers last weekend, and along with seeing some spectacular autumn scenery and attending Oktoberfest, we enjoyed strolling through the shops and restaurants in the recently redeveloped retail area across from the Antlers.
One of our favorite discoveries was the heavenly Rimini Gelato just a couple minutes’ walk north of the Antlers. One look through the window stopped us in our tracks:
The shop’s hand-crafted gelato is simply amazing — beautifully displayed, fresh, artful, and with so many delicious flavors it’s impossible to choose; now you know why we had to return for another round the following day. During our dual visits, we tried the creamy milk chocolate, espresso, caramel toffee and chocolate mint gelatos – as well as the classic Italian Stracciatella:
Our dog Maddie (who we brought along for the trip, since we stayed in one of the Antlers’ pet-friendly rooms) insisted on her own cup of vanilla:
To accompany the gelato, the shop sells excellent coffee, espresso and cappuccino — which I craved the minute I saw the enormous, gleaming silver Italian espresso machine behind the counter. The shop also offers a few wines and alcoholic drinks, plus an assortment of fine chocolates.
The Antlers staff can point you in the direction of Rimini. In fact, odds are good that they might just offer to accompany you there — so you don’t get lost, of course.
