Antlers Holiday Lobby

Sunday, November 25th, 2012

Now that we’ve put Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror, it’s time to decorate the lobby!

Although we take issue (like many) with Christmas decorations going up too early, under the heading of “True Confessions”, ours were actually up by November 8 this year.  However, we have a great excuse … Two of our MVO’s (Most Valuable Owners), Ron & Dawn Bobuk, were visiting from San Diego.  When Dawn asked innocently, “Would you like me to help put up the decorations?”, we were NOT going to say no.  On the contrary, we actually locked her and Amy in the lobby for three days with only bread and water.  OK, that’s a stretch, but they DID work tirelessly.

Between the Department 54 Village,

Our new Christmas tree,

And the lobby overall…

We’ve never looked better.  Thanks Dawn!

Adventure Film School students capture Teva Games

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

If you are lucky enough to be out enjoying the Teva Mountain Games this weekend keep an eye out for some very focused camera men and women. Most are students with the Outside Adventure Film school, a partnership between Outside magazine,  and Serac Adventure Films. While most of us are enjoying the activities, basking in the sun, and relishing the crisp clean mountain air, they are working their butts off! Students, with the aid of some very talented instructors and experience film makers will be spending their days trying to get the best footage of the games and their participants and spending their nights editing and piecing it together to create a short adventure film. The results of their hard work will be showcased here at the Antlers on Tuesday June 5! Come by and see the fruits of their labor!

The last adventure film school students came away making an amazing documentary entitled High Ground. I strongly recommend that if you have a chance you MUST go see this movie. It is currently touring the country through film festivals and has earned (deservedly) a lot of accolades!

Skiing with Connie Lawn

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

The Antlers is privileged to be playing host to Connie Lawn this week.  Connie is the Senior White House Correspondent and when you see Jay Carney speaking from the podium in the WH press room, that just might be the back of Connie’s head that you see sitting in the front row.  Much more importantly than her role at the nation’s capital (in our mind, anyway) is her passion for skiing and her superior skills writing about it.

Connie’s writing skills also go beyond regular WH journalism, and even the incredibly important ski blogging

Click the picture for a link to her autobiography

On Friday morning, Randi and I had the great good fortune to make a few turns with Connie and her husband Dr. Charles Sneiderman.  We knew from reading some of her blog posts that she’d be a hoot, and as usual … we were right.

The quintessential shot with the Gore Range in the background …just above chair 2.

That ever-tough chairlift self portrait … am I pointing this thing in the right direction?  If only my arm was a little longer …

With any luck at all, we’ll get a chance to ski with Connie and Charles again next year.   Until then, we’ll just remember Connie’s cantagious joy as she heads west on Eagle’s Nest Ridge …

Got Antlers?

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

We love it when guests wear the Antlers’ trademark red antlers. As the group above demonstrates, antlers are the perfect fashion accessory for mountaintop freestyle golf.

Greg and Randi from our staff show how versatile these antlers really are–they even look swell with evening attire:

Brazilian travel agents love our antlers:

Kids love our antlers:

What would the Antlers bike be without antlers?

Even dogs like to wear our red antlers!

We’d love to see photos of you and your friends (four-legged or otherwise) decked out in your red Antlers antlers. You might be featured in one of our ads or on this blog–or you could even win fun prizes for wearing your antlers in the most exotic local or taking the wackiest photo. E-mail your photos to RLeVine(at)antlersvail.com,  and if you don’t have your own personal pair of antlers just ask at the front desk and we’ll happily get you outfitted.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to snap a photo the next time you don your antlers on vacation–like this sophisticated traveler who sent us a photo from Torchy’s Damn Good Tacos (which she says they are) in Austin, Texas.

We look forward to seeing you in your antlers!

Cutest Guest

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

As a Vail pet friendly lodging option some of our four legged guests need some recognition too! Muffin one of our most loyal guests visited us again this March and as always it was a joy having her around. She never shies away from getting dressed up for any occasion, and always makes sure to stop by the front desk to show off her outfit of the day. We look forward to seeing her again along with the Bensingers, her gracious owners!

Action Photos / Wine And Cheese Party

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Jerome, Larry, Author and Rich talk shop. Ski shop that is.

Just about everyone in the room had skied or did a snow shoe earlier in the day.  I took no photos of that.  I did , however, snap some shots of everyone enjoying themselves at the Wine and Cheese Party that evening.  The Antlers hosts the gathering every Tuesday in the winter months.

Risa Bressler, Larry's wife, helps herself while the men talk shop.

  Come join us won’t you?

Teresa Buckley, Rich's wife, says hello to the camera.

Use to be employee Bert, with wife Kim, stopped by after a snow shoe to say hello.

Arlene and Arthur are proud of their ski day on the Mountain.

Magda introduces Isabelle, the Antlers youngest employee.

....and of course, a couple of regulars.

Vail family ski vacation

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

With the early snow opening a LOT of the mountain, families are already coming into town for a quick vail family ski vacation at the Antlers at Vail.  The kids are loving the fresh snow and groomed trails so early in the season.  They want to be in top shape for Thanksgiving week so as to add up as much vertical feet as possible.

Everyone is happy we have so much open.
