Improvement and Construction updates 2010

This summer we are expecting some construction in and around the Antlers (new roof for us and a new street outside). Most of the work should be completed by early July. Any impacts will be simliar to (or less than) what our guests have experienced for the last five years in Lionshead, which is to say there are things going on, but your stay should be unaffected for the most part. As in the past, we will have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, we will work with you (as we always do) until you are. If that means a complete refund, then that is exactly what we’ll do. Feel free to call for an updated schedule.

July 10:  Here is a picture of the South West side of the Antlers with the new stucco.
This scaffolding on the South East side should be coming down in the next week and we’ll essentially be finished!
.
July1:  The scaffolding over by the entrace to the pool (West side) should be coming down today and tomorrow.  The pool area has always been open, but the entrance to the pool area was a bit unsightly as of late.  That is being cleaned up now.

June 25:  The road outside is finished and our courtyard and parking garage are all open.  Upon your arrival at the Antlers, it is now the same as it has always been.  We are happy the street is finished.  We are still finishing up the stucco on the West side corner near the pool this week.  All pools are open.  There is just some scaffolding on that corner as you go out to the pool.  The East side corner (near the bike path) is almost finished with the new windows.  The new stucco goes up on that corner the first two weeks of July.  Views in virtually all rooms are unaffected.  It is just on a couple of the corners, where a side window view might be affected.
.
June 19:  The Town of Vail finished pouring concrete for the road construction up the street from the Antlers.  It needs to cure/set until around June28th.  After that all the road construction is finished and it will be like nothing ever happened here at Lionshead Place.  But until then our courtyard entrance will be closed.  Not a worry.  There are plenty of signs directing our guests directly into our underground garage for parking/check-in/un-loading.  We were 100% full this past week with a group and everyone got in a-okay.

Our roof construction has been on-going and we have not noticed much with that.  (Are they even working up there?)  However, we are now replacing some side windows on a portion of the building.  This is on the southeast and southweast corners of the part that is closest to the river.  Those 10 or so rooms are not being rented at this time.  The scalfolding is noticable to our guests when walking out to the pool or walking out to the bike path.  But that’s about it…

June 9:  Wonderful weather here and fewer construction impacts.  They are still working on our roof, but we rarely see many workers on that project.  However, on the sides of our building (near the river) we are re-doing the stucco on sides of the building and the exterior windows so there is quite a bit of scaffolding on the sides of the building near the river.  That should be going on most of June.  We have all our parking garage and courtyard open.  However, the Town of Vail will be doing more road construction up the street from the Antlers starting June 14th, which will close our courtyard entrance for about two weeks.  During that time our check-in parking will be directly into our parking garage underneath.  There will be plenty of signs to direct our guests into our parking.
.
June 4:  We have our courtyard and garage back.  It is like night and day. Easy check-in, easy parking.  They’ll still be working on the street up from the Antlers throughout this month so it might be a one lane street now and then, but at least we can park our cars.
.
May 29:  O.k. lots of progress ! Half of the Antlers courtyard is now open for arrivals and check-ins.  Super easy to stop in at reception and then unload the car.  We still need to park our cars at the Arrabelle garage (1 block away) until later afternoon on June 4th, but other than that  it is now super smooth for our guests.
.
May 26:  Due to the rotten weather in early May we are about a week behind with the roof construction and therefore we are in a bit of a pickle with our parking through June 4th.  We thought the crane and roof materials in the courtyard would be gone by Memorial day, but they will be leaving June 4th.  Until then, we are still open but we’ll have to check-in / unload our cars just inside the entrance and then park cars at the Arrabelle parking garage next door.  At 5pm on June 4th we will have our garage and parking back.  We can’t wait!  Please feel free to call us if you have concerns or questions.

This is where we need to unload until June 4th in the afternoon.  We’ll probably have much more room than this in the courtyard for unloading (behind the elk statue) starting Saturday May 29th, but we can’t promise.

For those of our guests staying early next week, parking is next door underground at the Arrabelle.  After unloading, above is the tunnel that you would drive down and just follow the signs to “Arrabelle check-in” to park your car.

Our courtyard is a bit of a mess as of Wed. May 26th.  It should be pretty cleaned up except for the crane by Saturday May 29th.  The guys above are welding the new chimneys for the roof.

May 21:  Making progress.  The road from the Antlers garage to the Arrabelle is now finished (see picture)  It looks good but they still need a week or more before we can drive on that.  The Antlers garage is expected to stay closed until June 7-8.  Until then we are using the parking at the Arrabelle’s underground garage.

Finished street to the East of the Antlers

Here is the street to the north of the Antlers, they are preparing this for pouring in the coming week(s).  The courtyard to the Antlers will probably be closed starting June 8th, which is when our garage will open up for use.

The roof construction at the Antlers has had better progress now that the weather has turned better in the last few days.  The crane in the courtyard and construction materials move out on June 2nd.

May 1:  Snowy outside.  The Antlers is now closed until Memorial day weekend.  With the different items going at and nearby the Antlers, we decided to focus on getting things done as soon as possible in preparation for the summer season.  We’ll be re-opening in late May.  Here is a picture of staging for our roof re-do.  The crane should be gone by late May with the courtyard back open.

April 25:  Sorry about the lack of updates, but we were sort of closed down the last week after the mountain closed.  The road outside has come along way and we have a crane in our courtyard for the next month to assist with our roof re-do.  The crane should be gone by Memorial Day, so it is sort of a short term thing.  They are ahead of schedule on the road, so most of the road impacts should be done by mid-June for us.  Again, most of these construction projects shouldn’t affect us once the summer really kicks in (in late June).

Roof project (Crane gone by Memorial day)

Road construction outside (finishes up mid-June)

April 13:  Not much to report but they are pulling up more of the old road.  Our garage is still open, etc.   Our new roof project (on the original building) doesn’t really begin until next week on Monday when we’ll be doing some work in our parking garage for staging.  Most of the garage will be closed short term and we’ll be parking at the Arrabelle.  We’ll let you know for how long.

April 12:  They started to put up some barriers on the street project near the Arrabelle and Lionsquare Lodge today.  The Antlers garage access and sidewalk access is unaffected.  Looks like there is a little noise over by the Arrabelle today but not affecting us at this time.
