Hiking with Grandpa

Comfortable Antlers at Vail lodging (right and left) includes full kitchens, dining areas and living rooms with plenty of room to spread out – and a “Parents Not Allowed” summer discount sweetens the deal for grandparents.

A chance to bond with grandkids – and to give parents an often much-needed break – are two big reasons behind the trend of grandparent-grandchildren travel. In the spirit of oldster/youngster summer fun, the Antlers at Vail hotel is offering a “Parents Not Allowed” additional 5-percent lodging discount for grandparents traveling with grandchildren during summer 2016 on any size Antlers guest suite (on top of regular seasonal discounts). The summer special from the Antlers at Vail (ranked a “best ski hotel for families” by Curbed Ski) takes advantage of Vail’s family-friendly side.

The Antlers at Vail’s three-night You Go(Pro) Girl lodging-and-adventure package, available Aug. 15 – Sept. 30, 2016,  provides a perfect opportunity for women to revel in Vail Valley’s fabulous fall weather while hanging with their BFFs. Women can construct their four-day/three-night getaway to suit their schedules, tastes and abilities including sipping mimosas from the sparkling wine and orange juice provided in the guest suite’s full kitchen, kicking off shoes and the cares of the week while enjoying the pine-scented air and sound of rushing Gore Creek from the outdoor balcony, perhaps followed by a dip in Antlers’ year-round outdoor pool and hot tubs. The price for the four-day/three-night You Go(Pro) Girl Getaway is $386 per person based on four women in a two-bedroom condominium (all condominiums include living room with fireplace, dining area, full kitchen and outdoor balcony). Grill brats on a private balcony after zooming down Vail Pass on two wheels, ride a zipline down a Vail canyon or just kick back in front of the fireplace – and living room big screen – while sipping a cold one with this best-of-Colorado lodging-and-lifestyle trip. In other words, cyclists. Or more specifically, mountain bikers. Or to put an even finer point on it, riders who can ride. Ride long and ride hard. Those who consider the first 15 miles the warmup to the main event. And who lead with their chin when the trail points down.

Vail Outlier: Mountain bikers. Who can ride. Ride long and ride hard. Those who consider the first 15 miles the warmup to the main event. And who lead with their chin when the trail points down.
