A couple of us went on a Polaris Razor off road adventure tour with Vail’s Sage Adventures whose Vail adventure office is over in Lionshead, just 100 yards from the Antlers at Vail condominiums. The site of the jeep riding was about 30 minutes west of Vail near Castle Peak. Our tour guide “Cole” set us up with our machines and off we went. We climbed quite a bit of vertical to get to altitude and it was a nice pretty area with specatuclar views. We were searching for some moose that Cole said were up there but we just ran into a few deer (well, maybe we didn’t RUN into them). The Panageas family staying at the Antlers at Vail during this week, was also on the tour. Dad and all three kids all rode in one buggy. Mom was at the conference at the Marriott (too bad for mom.) $330 gets you the buggy for a 2.5 hour tour + snack, etc. Nice package when you can get 4 people for the ride. Beats a jeep tour in my book. Chris R.

An often forgotten about hike is the Lionshead Rock hike out of Minturn Colorado. It is a short 15 minute drive from the Antlers at Vail condominiums. Drive west on Interstate 70 to Exit 171 at Dowd Junction and then head south on Highway 24 for a few miles until you arrive in the town of Minturn. Take a left right away upon arriving into town and go across the bridge by the Saloon. As you pass the Saloon, hang a right swinging around the building and go across the railraod tracks to Taylor Street. Head north on Taylor street passing a number of homes (and junky cars, fridges, old snowmobiles, sinks, dishwashers, chairs, dogs, etc) until you arrive at the far end (dead end). Find a parking spot and head to the Game Creek trail (to the East) and start going up the trail. As you go up and past the river for about a 1/2 mile you’ll hang a RIGHT onto the trail which will take you to the Lionshead Rock. It is about a 2 mile climb one way from the trail head.

Vail, Colorado — June 30, 2011— The Antlers at Vail hotel’s new Early Tracks Package (November 18 – December 15, 2011) offers a four-night, four-day stay-and-ski deal with the fourth night free. The Antlers offers a variety of room sizes/prices starting at $599 per person for 4 people in a 2-bedroom condo – and the price includes four-day lift tickets for each person! Colorado skiers and boarders know that the early season brings great snow deals without the crowds. Need more convincing?

Top 5 Reasons Why Vail’s Early Snow Season Rocks

1. Be among the first to lay tracks on the pristine new snow (like in this video).

2. Enjoy early season deals on lift tickets, equipment rental and lodging.

3. Fewer crowds = shorter lift lines = more runs.

4. Preview the season’s latest ski equipment when it’s brand spankin’ new.

5. Enjoy the bragging rights that come with being one of the first to experience Vail Mountain!

Since 1972, the Antlers has offered a unique Vail lodging experience in a relaxed mountain setting. The Antlers Vail condominiums – named the ‘Green Business of the Year’ by the Vail Valley Partnership Success Awards – is also proud to be a Green Star rated business. With condominiums ranging from studio suites up to four bedrooms and plenty of space to spread out, each room at the Antlers offers all the comforts of home including fully-equipped kitchens, fireplaces, outdoor balconies, free Internet access and free parking in a heated indoor garage. The Antlers Vail is conveniently located in the Lionshead area of Vail with numerous restaurants, galleries and shops within walking distance, and the free Vail town shuttle stops just footsteps away.
