The Vail International Dance Festival is now in its 23rd year with dancers from all over the world performing at the outdoor Ford Amphitheater. 2011′s highlights include the worldwide company debut of New York City Ballet Moves, Mark Morris Dance Groups’ 30th Anniversary Celebration, gala events like the International Evenings of Dance, plus the triumphant return of Trey McIntyre Project. Terra Bistro Appy Hour

Last week some friends and I went to Terra Bistro for their “Appy Hour” . You may think I’ve left out the “H” but that is not the case. Appy Hour is like a traditional happy hour but with better food. It is daily from 5 – 6pm in the bar area of the restaurant. Terra Bistro is located in Vail Village, just a short distance from the Antlers at Vail condos. They have a large, creative menu of appetizers and drinks. Appetizers priced from $5, mixed drinks from $4, and specialty cocktails from $6. It was the perfect place to go before we headed over to the Ford Amphitheater to see the Vail International Dance Festival. We didn’t sample everything on the menu but here are a few of the apps we tried. (We polished off the truffle pizza and mussels before we could take a picture.)

Vail International Dance Festival 2010

Kicking off this week in Vail is the Vail International Dance Festival!

It runs from July 27th throught Aug. 10th

This legendary festival draws artists from around the world, who come to perform in Vail’s spectacular setting. A few highlights this year include the Beijing Dance/LDTX, the American premiere of Natalia Hills and Gabriel Miss’s tango show, a new work by Larry Keigwin, as well as performances by The Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Paul Taylor Dance Company.

The first show was with Savion Glover. Personally I’ve not had the chance to see Mr. Glover, but I have heard enough great things that I myself, am headed to the show. The Antlers still has some availability for the festival, so make your way to Vail and see some great performances.
