Chair 11 opens!!!!

More terrain opens Friday 14th at Vail.

Jacquie and I had fresh tracks on Prima Friday afternoon. Chair 11 opened with Riva Ridge, Prima, Pronto, Northstar, Northwoods, South rim, North rim and Gandy Dancer (watch for the rollers). Its fast and fun right now. Vail only recorded 2″ from the storm last night but over cast skies and flurries are looking promising today. I will be headed out this afternoon for some turns with our guest if anyone is on the hill and wants to join me. I suggest a ski with some width. Have fun and enjoy the GREAT snow!

Free night when you join in on the fun Aug 21

Stop the Presses. What a Deal. How Can We Do It? A Night Free and It’s This Much Fun? Save The Date. COMING UP THIS SATURDAY

If you’ve never participated in a highway clean-up, you don’t know what your missing. The Antlers is offering a free nights vail lodging if you would like to join us for a couple of hours in the morning to “pick up” our adopted stretch of I70 at the top of Vail Pass.

All you need to do is join us around 9:30 AM on Saturday the 21st of August. We will be transporting all the lucky participants to the promised land, we do our deed, and then enjoy a BBQ lunch afterwords. We have been doing this since 1988 and the party gets better every year. The best part is you get to keep anything of value you might find along the road ( money, tires, sweatshirts, un-opened pop cans, to name just a few things ).

Biking Vail Pass: The Easy Way

Last week Ratz and some of his partners in crime biked up Vail Pass. CJ and I decided that looked fun. Or rather, half of it looked like fun. So when our good friends next door at Charter Sports offered to give us a ride up to the top of the pass, a couple bikes, and let gravity take care of the rest, and feed us beer and bbq at the bottom, so we jumped at the offer. We met up with a few of the fine ladies from Sage Outdoor Adventures Our driver Jaimis (I have no idea how to spell it, but its pronounced Jay-mus) knows pretty much every thing there is to know about Vail and is a great resource to have for the half-hour ride to the top. The views up there are pretty amazing. I was suitably impressed:

For just 45 bucks Charter Sports will hook you up with a comfort cruiser bike, helmet, water, and a ride to the top of the pass. It’ll take you about two and a half hours for the whole activity, depending on how much you use your brakes, and you can make an afternoon of it if you stop at bighorn park at the bottom of the pass and bbq, like we did.

Vail Pass new Highway clean up sign for Antlers at Vail

The Antlers at Vail has a 2 mile section of Interstate 70 up on the top of Vail Pass that we clean up. This past June a number of guests even gave us a hand! It is one of the most beautiful sections of highway through the State of Colorado. And guess what? We just got some new signs placed by the highway department this summer. They look great. Thanks to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
