Vail ski report and ski conditions December 18

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Boy, it looks like it wants to snow but it just teases us.  Another inch today with some good flakes falling early in the morning, but then the sun came out later in the day.  Every little bit helps to keep things soft.  Rumors that they might try to open Blue Sky Basin with access via Sleepy Time Cat-walks.  We’ll see.  Today I did a few runs with Marty Kovens out of Florida.  He has been staying at the Antlers at Vail forever.  This guy skis fast!  I’m glad he didn’t mind waiting……   Chris R.

Marty wouldn’t allow me to get a picture of him, so I filled in (Chris R.)

Heading down Simba for the end of the day makes for some good carving.

I don’t think this guy spends too much time on the Blue Groomers……

Vail offers a lot of diverse terrain, something for everyone, as it’s been said. This fella found a place on the mountain that not too many people venture to or would even consider as ski terrain. Excuse me; he is not skiing, he is riding. The good news is, he finished this little stunt with his feet facing back toward the earth.

He is our own Eric Rust, the Antlers “Director of First and Last Impressions”, and this photo was published in the Vail Daily on Sunday, 2/15.Let us know what you think.

A. I want to get out there with this guy. B. I’ll play on the other side of the playground C. I don’t even want him to check me in when I arrive.
